EAST FARM SHOP February 2010
With Spring just around the corner we have a range of vegetables and fruit these include carrots, parsnips, leeks, onions, courgettes, turnips and sweedes which are great with any roast dinner.
From October through to February we stock a good range of seasonal game, this includes Pheasants, Partridge, wild duck, pigeon, rabbit and wild venison. Birds can be bought whole or in parts. The game has become very popular so for large orders it may be a good idea to pre-order.
Now the winter is with us with the colder shorter days, Sunday roast and a mid week stew are a great way of warm you self up. We have a good selection of Locally produced Beef from Francis Burfit at Gillingham, locally produced pork from East Stour and Lamb from Sarah Clarke (Milton Abbas) and from John Gould (Nr Bruton). This week we have a Local pig from Turnworth, which has been reared by James Tory.
Freshly baked bread is now available from The winterborne bakery, unfortunately Goldy's have closed so we won't be stocking their produce for a while. However this bread is very good, and is traditionally baked and has great flavour and texture, and it even last 3 days (if you don't eat that much).
